The Foundling Museum stands on the site of the Foundling Hospital, established in 1739 by the philanthropist Thomas Coram as a place of care for abandoned children. It became London's first public art gallery, with artists including William Hogarth donating works in the belief that art should be accessible to all. The building that exists today is a Grade II listed structure of exceptional historical and cultural significance, combining beautifully preserved Rococo interiors with thoughtful contemporary additions.

The museum is located in Bloomsbury, moments from the British Museum and within easy walking distance of King's Cross, Euston and Holborn underground stations. Its central location and rich history make it a destination that guests remember long after the event itself.
The spaces.
The Picture Gallery is the museum's principal event space, a long, elegant room hung with original artworks and lit to showcase both the collection and the guests within it. It accommodates up to 150 for a standing reception or 100 for a seated dinner or ceremony. The Court Room offers a more intimate setting with its beautifully detailed Georgian interiors, ideal for private dining for up to 40 guests or standing receptions of up to 80.
The Clore Creative Studio provides a contemporary flexible space for meetings, workshops and smaller presentations, accommodating up to 65 in theatre style and 28 in boardroom configuration. Exclusive whole-venue hire for up to 250 guests is also available, allowing events to flow between the museum's different rooms and create a genuinely memorable evening.

Corporate receptions and dinners at the Foundling Museum
Corporate events at the Foundling Museum need production that fits the rooms and their collections. A reception in the Picture Gallery may need a microphone for a welcome and gentle background music; a private dinner in the Court Room calls for a more intimate sound and lighting design. We plan equipment and cable routes with the museum so the historic interiors remain the focus.
For a charity event, awards presentation or company gathering, tell us which parts of the evening need everyone’s attention. We can scope discreet sound, speaker lighting and presentation screens or projection where the room allows. Meetings and workshops in the Clore Creative Studio have their own presentation requirements, so we design for the selected space and programme. Producing an event at Foundling Museum
01Is a technician included, or is it dry hire?
Either. Equipment can go out on dry hire, or with the technicians and operators who install it, run the show and take it out again. Most events at the Foundling Museum are crewed. Our quotes list install crew, operators and the project manager as separate lines, so you can see exactly what is included before you commit.
02Can you rig from the building's structure?
Only from points the venue approves, and never from anything the venue has not signed off. Our riggers work to LOLER and PLASA standards, with full load calculations and risk assessments completed before load in. The team works regularly in heritage interiors, listed beam structures and rooms with low ceilings, so the design starts from what the building allows.
03What is the capacity at the Foundling Museum?
The Picture Gallery holds 150 standing and 100 seated for a ceremony, and the whole venue takes up to 250. It is a Grade II listed building.
04Can you put AV into a Grade II listed building?
Yes, with discreet sound and sympathetic lighting designed for the rooms, and with fixings and cable routes agreed with the museum in advance. In a collection space the equipment should be the thing nobody notices.
05What sort of events suit the museum?
Ceremonies, private dining, receptions and presentations, where the building and the art are the setting rather than a backdrop to a large rig.
06Can you provide discreet AV for a corporate dinner at the Foundling Museum?
