Full product details
The ULXD4 is the single channel receiver in Shure's ULX-D range: 24 bit digital audio, AES 256 bit encryption and enough tuning range to find clear spectrum in a busy room. It is half rack, so it fits where a full width receiver will not, which is why it tends to be the one that joins an existing rig rather than forms it.
What it is for
- Adding one radio mic to a rig that is already coordinated
- Small speech systems, a lectern and a roving handheld
- Ceremonies and outdoor speeches where the receiver travels in a small case
- Confidential sessions, where the AES 256 encryption matters
- A spare channel kept ready at front of house
How it is used
It pairs with any ULX-D transmitter, including the ULXD2 handheld and the ULXD1 bodypack. We coordinate frequencies for the venue before the truck leaves, because the UK band is shared with television and with every other radio system in the building, and we handle the Ofcom licence where the job needs Channel 38. On site it is networkable, so the whole system is monitored from one screen rather than by walking to the rack.
What it pairs with
The ULXD4D or ULXD4Q where more channels are needed, a Shure UHF active directional antenna for distance or a difficult room, and our sound engineers to coordinate and run it.
Delivery and support
Delivery, collection and technical support are part of every hire across London, the South East and the UK. Frequency coordination is included on every wireless hire.
Hire questions
Shure ULXD4 Digital Wireless Receiver hire FAQs
Do I need a licence for radio microphones in the UK?+
Channel 38 needs an Ofcom licence, which we arrange as part of the hire. The licence exempt band is free to use but shared, so it is not the place for speeches that matter.
Will it work with my existing Shure transmitters?+
It works with any ULX-D transmitter on the same frequency band. Tell us what you already hold and we will match the band.
How many channels can run together?+
That depends on the spectrum available in your venue on the day. We coordinate frequencies for the building before the hire goes out and bring a plan, not a guess.
