The Ayrton RawBeam 350 is a laser source beam fixture built to do what a discharge beam used to do, without the lamp. A 160 mm front lens throws over 1,340,000 lux at 10 metres, and the 13 element optical system carries a 40:1 zoom that runs from a 1.1 degree needle out to a 45 degree wash without swapping between a beam mode and a spot mode. It is IP65 rated and weighs 25.4 kg, so the same fixture goes on an outdoor roof or into a ballroom rig.

How it is used
Pan and tilt are both infinite, so the fixture keeps rotating rather than running out of travel mid effect. Colour is CMY mixing with a gradient CTO on discs, correcting from 6800 K down to 3000 K, alongside a wheel of 15 complementary colours, a multi colour RGB and CMY animation section and a CTB filter. Graphics come from 10 rotating quartz gobos and 25 fixed metal gobos, four beam reducers and an animation wheel, and those run through two sets of three combinable rotating prisms for layered aerial effects. Two frost filters, 1 and 5 degrees, take it from a hard beam to a soft wash. Control is a single 43 channel mode over wired DMX, Art-Net, sACN or wireless CRMX, and maximum draw is 660 W. Minimum usage distance is 25 metres, so it wants height or throw.
