Graphic Designer (Large Format Print)

Artwork for the big stuff: dancefloors, media walls, backdrops and stage graphics, prepared properly and printed right first time.

Location
Uxbridge, on site, Monday to Friday
Contract
Full time
Salary
£28,000 to £30,000 a year
Department
Print & Graphics

We produce large format print in house for live events: dancefloors, stage graphics, media walls, backdrops, bar fascias, signage, hoarding, window and exhibition graphics, POS displays and UV flatbed work. The work runs across our own events, our sister print company Print Station London, and agencies outside both.

This role is for someone who has prepared artwork for large format specifically. It is not general studio design. You will build the artwork, check what customers send in, talk to them directly about it, and make sure what reaches the printer will actually print.

You sit in the middle of the production workflow, between the customer and the print room, which is why the communication side of the job matters as much as the design side.

What you will do

  • Design artwork for large format print: dancefloors, backdrops, media walls, signage, exhibition graphics, bar fascias, hoarding and commercial print.
  • Check customer supplied artwork before production: size, scale, resolution, bleed, colour mode, fonts, images, vector artwork and cut contours.
  • Tell customers plainly when artwork needs amending, and what would fix it.
  • Prepare print ready files: correct finished size, vector cut paths, cut contours and exported PDFs, ready for the RIP.
  • Manage your jobs in Monday.com and keep artwork ahead of the production deadline.
  • Work day to day with the print room and the events team.

What we are looking for

  • Excellent Adobe Illustrator, good Photoshop, and a strong understanding of vector artwork.
  • Experience producing artwork for large format print.
  • Confident with CMYK and RGB, cut contours, bleed, resolution, PDF export and scaling artwork correctly.
  • Attention to detail. On a six metre backdrop a wrong scale is an expensive mistake.
  • Comfortable speaking to customers directly and explaining a technical artwork problem in plain terms.
  • At least two years in graphic design.

Useful but not essential

  • A background in large format print, signage, exhibition graphics or the events industry.
  • RIP workflow experience.
  • Monday.com or similar job management.

Apply for this role.
