Atmospherics and effects: haze to make beams visible, low fog that sits on the floor for a first dance or a reveal, and mirror balls for the look nothing else gives. We hire Look Solutions and MDG machines, which are the ones that hold a consistent haze rather than setting off an alarm.
Every venue has its own rules on smoke, haze and detector isolation. We check that with the venue before the day, because finding out at rehearsal is how a show loses an hour.
