Conventional fixtures are still the backbone of a well lit stage. We hire the ETC Source Four family for hard-edged profiles and precise shuttering, fresnels for soft washes, and pinspots and pars for tables, set detail and gobo texture.
They are unfashionable next to moving heads and they do things moving heads do not: a clean, silent, absolutely stable pool of light exactly where you shuttered it. Most of our conference and awards rigs mix the two.
